FAQ

I’m Tyler. I’ve written poems since childhood and earned an MFA in poetry from the University of New Mexico in 2023. I now live in Portland, Oregon with my partner and our cats. I’m also a teacher and a Buddhist Lay Minister in training through the Bright Dawn Center of Oneness Buddhism. While my poems are not explicitly Buddhist, they are influenced by my years-long study and practice of eastern spiritual practices. For me, poetry is a practice of both mindfulness and compassion, through which the small, ego-self dissolves and we, as both readers and writers, touch something deeper and truer. In other words, poetry is a way of coming home to who we really are.

Never. I will never, ever use AI to draft, revise, or edit your poem. All poems are my own original work.
-
I write primarily unrhymed free verse, though the form and shape of each poem varies depending on the topic. Lengthwise, they tend to be 12 - 30 lines or so. To get a feel for my style and voice, check out the Sample Poems page.

That’s okay. Just tell me what’s on your mind. What are you going through, healing from, working toward, etc.? A few words are enough.

Poems are $20 each, including mailing.
When I first began writing spontaneous poems at farmers’ markets, the model was “name your own price.” Online ordering requires a set price, so I’ve chosen an amount that keeps the poems accessible while covering materials, postage, and the time it takes to write each one with care.

If you’d like to use a payment method other than a card, please use this order form instead.
-
Yes, please do! I often write poems for birthdays, anniversaries, memorials, weddings, graduations, new beginnings, or simply as gifts for loved ones. If you’d like a poem to arrive with a separate note from you attached, please let me know in your order notes.
